Scot Flynn, PA-C is a board-certified and licensed Physician Assistant with Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ) specialty in Psychiatry. PA Scot has been working in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine since 2008, after graduating from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology and Sociology from the University of San Diego in 2000 and began his work in the field of developmental-behavioral pediatrics until 2002. This initial exposure to medicine and psychopharmacology was what laid the foundation for his future career in mental health.
After two years of working with families, children, and adolescents with developmental disabilities, Scot moved to Barcelona, Spain and worked in Catalunia before returning to the US to complete his pre-medical coursework at Southern Connecticut State University in 2004.
While applying to Physician Assistant programs, Scot worked as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
In 2006, he began his medical training as a Physician Assistant with LIU. With a long-standing interest in mental health, Scot accepted a position with Yale University’s Bridgeport Hospital Department of Psychiatry soon after graduation in 2008.
PA Scot has over eleven years of extensive experience working in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. In 2011, he accepted a research position as a research investigator and has remained very happy working as an investigator in clinical trials in Austin.
In 2012, Scot continued his interest in Addiction Psychiatry treating patients with substance use and alcohol disorders at Austin Recovery Center.
When he is not working, he spends his free time traveling the world as well as volunteering in medically underserved countries such as Mexico and Costa Rica. He has traveled across the globe from Africa to the middle east, South America, and far eastern Europe. Scot’s clinical approach to Psychiatry reflects his long-standing belief that every individual should have the opportunity to live up to their fullest potential, and that a compassionate and educated approach to treating all spectrums of mental health disorders can facilitate this.
